Collection: Harland Miller X Karuizawa

In a one-of-a-kind collaboration between fine art and fine whisky, internationally renowned British artist Harland Miller has created 10 unique hand-painted labels for an exceptionally rare series of bottles from the legendary Japanese Karuizawa Distillery. Despite closing its doors in 2000, Karuizawa has, under the custodianship of Number One Drinks, become one of the world’s most coveted and collectable single malts.Filled on 23rd December 1998, Cask #2347 was privately owned by Marcin Miller who has donated the only 10 bottles to be released at cask strength (61.8%) to this project, with all proceeds supporting the pioneering art charity Migrate Art.

Each of the 10 bottles now bears an original painted ‘label’ by Harland Miller, transforming the already desirable whisky into a one-of-a-kind work of art. The artist declared “I’m so pleased with the work I’ve made for the charity. I’m excited for other people to see them.” The sale of these 10 bottles will directly benefit Migrate Art, an organisation that harnesses creativity to support displaced and disadvantaged communities across the globe.

The collaboration was born from a chance encounter at an event hosted in Harland Miller’s studio, where spirits entrepreneur and art collector Marcin Miller met both the artist and the chairman of the art charity Migrate Art. Inspired by the meeting, Marcin generously offered to donate 10 unlabelled bottles of Karuizawa single malt to support the charity’s work, and Harland agreed to create unique hand-painted labels to adorn them, uniting fine art, rare whisky, and philanthropy in a singular project.
