Lakwena Maciver is a British-Ugandan artist who studied graphic design at the London College of Communications. Her practice focuses on responding to and re-appropriating elements of popular culture, using bold and bright colours to contrast the cold and grey of the city. Maciver is inspired by the literature and music she listens to, leading to the use of song lyrics promoting positivity in her work. The colours and text used throughout her pieces further provide a form of escapism.
